Anemone nemorosa
Anemone, Wood
Description
This small perennial grows 3-6', and has creeping rhizomes, deeply-cut leaves and flowers suspended above the foliage (the color of which will be white; on rare occassions is pinkish or blue). Slow-spreading, it makes an attractive woodland groundcover. When sown immediately, the seeds of this anemone will produce flowering plants in 3-4 years. Its blossoms produce burr-like fruit similiar (but smaller) than the Canadian anemone. The best effect of this plant comes from growing it in masses.
