More than half of the water used at your home is for outside purposes. Studies show that on average, half of the water used outdoors is wasted. The leading cause of waste is incorrectly set and poorly managed irrigation controllers. The second biggest cause of wastage is broken irrigation equipment that goes undetected. There are a few basic things you can do to make a big difference in your water use.

This biennial or perennial will grow 2-3' tall and has spiked, hairy leaves around the stems. It produces large, yellow flowers that have brown in them.

With glossy dark green leaves, this flower spikes to 3' and produces large, red/salmon pink flowers.

Botanical name:Lychnis coronaria
Magenta-pink blooms in May through July on mossy-soft, grey-green leaves highlight this plant. The 1'-2' stems branch at the top and are loaded with flowers. It should be grown in slightly moist, well-drained soil, and is a great companion to Lamb's Ears. -Holland WIldflower Farm

Maintain a two to four inch layer of mulch on the soil surface to reduce weeds, infiltrate rain water, and reduce compaction.
Remove irrigation water and fertilizer from areas where you don't want weeds to grow.
